A big part of CJMP’s commitment to the CRTC is to produce up-to-date Program logs. These are absolutely required from every on-air programmer. Failure to produce a clear, legible record of your program may result in program termination.

Logs must be filled in, clearly indicating the information requested above; this will include:

  • Basic category of the program (eg. #21 if it’s primarily a Pop/Dance/Rock music program)
  • Main language of the broadcast
  • The Programmer (dj)’s name
  • The Date and Time of the program
  • The Main CRTC Category for the entire program
  • The Artist and Title of individual ‘selections’ (be they sound clips, music tracks, spoken word sections [live or pre-recorded])
  • The Indication of the selection’s category using the Category # (eg.Jazz = #34)

The indication of whether the selection represents :

    • Canadian Content,
    • Foreign Language,
    • Instrumental,
    • Spoken Word (news), * indicating duration in minutes
    • Spoken Word (all others) * indicating duration in minutes

* Only spoken word elements need to have an indication of length; all other types of material will count only as numbered selections, as per our CRTC requirements.
