Job Description for the Powell River Community Radio Society (PRCRS) Board Secretary:
Time commitment: Â c. 3-5 hours per week, plus meeting times.
The PRCRS Board Secretary Must:
- Attend all board meetings (typically every 2 weeks, for 1.5 hours per meeting);
- Serve on the Executive Committee (consisting of the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, in addition to Secretary);
- Review and Ensure the safety and accuracy of all board records
- Assume responsibilities of the chair in the absence of the board chair, chair-elect, and vice chair;
- Provide notice of meetings of the board and/or of a committee when such notice is required;
- Conduct the correspondence of the society, redirecting correspondence when  possible; and on the request of a director, convene a meeting of the directors.
- Take and keep minutes of all meetings of the society and directors;
- Have custody of all records and documents of the society except those required to be kept by the treasurer;
- Maintain the register of members;
- Produce reports as needed
- Â Have custody of the common seal of the society (if this exists);
- The directors may provide a common seal for the society and may destroy a seal and substitute a new seal in its place.
- The common seal must be affixed only when authorized by a resolution of the directors and then only in the presence of the persons specified in the resolution, or if no persons are specified, in the presence of the president and secretary or president and secretary treasurer.
