This is a show about some of the music that I love the most: the kind of stuff that isn’t afraid to go off the deep end but still hang onto some elements of melody, rhythm, and harmony, no matter how tenuously. I’ll focus on the intersection of a bunch of genres: space rock, psychedelia, post-rock, ambient, drone, minimalism, Krautrock, and whatever else seems to fit. The main idea is to explore music that contains giant spaces, provokes meditative or other intense states of awareness, awakens thought and emotion, and does it without being slushy new-age pap. Sometimes it’s going to be tough sledding. Other times, like the bliss of the womb.
